Virtual Class Participant Reviews
I have been installing Fire/Life Safety systems for over 20 years now. I am currently in a management position with a Bay Area company. I am a current Fire/Life Safety license holder and working towards NICET certification.
I have had the privilege to know and work with Sagiv for many years through our projects being done in San Francisco and his training classes. His perspective coming from the AHJ viewpoint is invaluable because of the sheer number of projects he has designed and reviewed and his vast knowledge in this area. He is involved in the NFPA, CAFAA, SFPE, and in the Elevator code process through ASME. He is a principal enforcer member for NFPA-72 and a FPE in the State of CA.
Back in December I had the opportunity to attend a virtual ZOOM class on “Interfacing Elevator Controls with Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Systems”. I have to say that this ZOOM class was extremely informative and very well organized. The moderator kept the class on course. I am looking forward to attending the ECS & ERRCS ZOOM class coming up this April.
With all Sagiv’s experience in the Life/Safety industry he is able to speak with authority, and he presents it in a format that is clear, concise, and very engaging. His classes have been invaluable to me. It has allowed me to be more confident in my installations. It has also given me the confidence to approach other AHJ’s and have discussions about code. Finally, Sagiv is one of a very few AHJ’s that will answer code questions weather it is within his jurisdiction or not. I have had several recent code questions (especially when it comes to elevator) that he has helped me get to the proper code section so I can have a more intelligent discussion with other trades as well as AHJ’s.
I highly recommend Sagiv as an instructor for any Fire/Life Safety course that he puts together. He is a highly driven individual that is willing to give back to this industry whenever he can.

I have been involved in the fire/life safety industry as a sales consultant going on 30 years now. I am currently serving on a technical committee for NFPA-72, Chapter 18 & Annex A, executive committee for NFPA Building Fire Safety Systems Section and an Ambassador for NICET. I hold a NICET level IV certification in fire alarm systems & levels I & II in Inspection & Testing, Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) through NFPA, fire/life safety inspector for the Commonwealth of KY and have my CA State Fire/Life Safety Inspection license.
I have been privileged to know Sagiv for many years now through our mutual involvement in NFPA, CAFAA, SFPE and at his current position as a Fire Protection Engineer for the City of San Francisco Fire Department, Bureau of Fire Prevention.
I have been very fortunate to be able to hear & attend many classes about the fire/life safety codes from Sagiv. His perspective coming from the AHJ viewpoint is invaluable because of the sheer number of projects he has designed and reviewed and his vast knowledge in this arena. He is also involved in the Elevator code process through ASME, principal enforcer member for NFPA-72 and a FPE in the State of CA.
Back on December 10th & 11th I attended a virtual ZOOM class on “Interfacing Elevator Controls with Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Systems”. I have to say this ZOOM “virtual class” versus “in-person” training was extremely informative and very well organized. The moderators name was Helena and she was also awesome, she kept us on course and handled questions, breaks and any house-keeping items in a very professional manner. I am looking forward to the ECS & ECRRCS “virtual class” coming up here in April!
Sagiv speaks with authority with all his fire/life safety industry experience and presents it in a format that is really engaging, clear and concise. His classes are also invaluable to me, it allows me to design with confidence and he is the only person I know willing to answer any question I have relating to code information.
Finally, in order to maintain my professional credentials I have attended many virtual trainings and seminars on a regular basis. The majority of them are not very engaging and interesting, more often than not the instructors have no real world experience and therefore very little passion or understanding what I deal with on a daily basis in our Industry.
I would recommend, without any question, Sagiv as an instructor for any Fire Protection/Life Safety course he would put together. He is driven to serve our Industry and giving back whenever he can.

I have been working for Honeywell International Inc since 2007. I am currently a Fire Alarm Application Engineer II. In this role I was assigned to small projects surveying, estimating and engineering all Honeywell's Tenant Improvement Projects. NowI have been moving forward to worked on large retrofit and system upgrades. I recently obtained my NICET IV Certification in fire alarm systems last October 2020.
I met Sagiv at his current position as a Fire Protection Engineer for the City of San Francisco Fire Department, Bureau of Fire Prevention. On each and every plan reviews and pre-application meetings I attended with him as the plan reviewer, I always leave with additional understanding of the codes.
I attended my first virtual ZOOM class last December 10-11, 2020 with Sagiv covering “Interfacing Elevator Controls with Fire Alarm & Sprinkler Systems”. I had a very positive experience and I am looking forward for the next Virtual Class that he will be hosting.
The part I mostly find helpful in the virtual vs. the in-person class were the following:
First, the way the course got split into two sessions. It gave me time to take in all the information I received on the first daybefore moving on to the rest of the slides which is scheduled on the next day. After the first session, I was able to go through some reference codes shown on his slides, this give me chance to understand what I am reading and gave me preparation for the next session.
Second, the timing and schedules worked well in the “working at home” set up. It was very organized and professional. Sagivmade sure we are all on track as he moved back and forth with his slides.
Third, Sagiv was able to keep us all engaged in the class, by calling us individually to ensure all of us get a chance toparticipate in the question and answer portion (I called it his “graded recitation”). I find it very helpful when we were able to raise our hands in the app and the part where we can type our questions as chat and all can read and provide their inputs. These guarantees that everyone who has questions gets called and all inquiries will be answered and clarified. None gets left out.
Sagiv is very passionate in his profession, he devotes time to ensure we interpret the code precisely.
I always look forward in attending his seminar events as they are very informative and it is in a format that is very easy to understand, friendly, straight to the point. His examples are based off on his actual plan reviews and actual building scenarios. I was able to ask few questions about one of my current elevator modernization projects and he was able to provide clarification immediately. That same day I was able to revise my plans before I submit for plan review in DBI.
I highly recommend his seminars to my peers, any Fire Alarm Designers, Technicians, Fire Alarm Testers and AHJ. Aside from the learning experience I obtained, his seminars provide additional CEU's as well which is required to maintain my current NICET certification.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with Sagiv actively in my time of service with CAFAA as the Secretary of the Board. At first, Sagiv struck me as someone who was very passionate about fire protection (2 peas in a pod) and a dedicated craftsman to his profession. As I quickly learned, he was much more than that. He is a true leader in the entire industry and a change agent in the fight for the betterment of codes and standards, to make the world a safer place.
As an industry educator myself, it is important to me that I convey my passion through words, thoughts and images. I also look for others who teach the same way to keep my attention, especially when sitting through long presentations or lots of volume of information. It is hard to retain in most events, but I believe that is all dependent on the instructor.
If your objective is to learn fire protection from a very competent individual and have a high retainage, I implore you. Meet Sagiv. Sign up for his courses. You. Will. Not. Be. Disappointed!
Thank you for allowing me to learn from you!
